The love of a young African tribesman for a girl enslaved by the Egyptians, and the hatred generated after her untimely death, and the calamitous events that derive from these actions are shown to be part of the present problems we face on earth. The three, Ann, Jon, and Jason, keep on learning the skills of the aliens; learn how to transport themselves to any part of the globe without airplanes, automobiles, or other earthly mode of transport. They learn how to read minds and investigate further into the past how the problems with human nature started, twenty-seven thousand years ago.

Description content for this Copyright: My novel is about a character whose disillusionment begins soon after he arrives into contemporary culture and finds it almost impossible to cope. He is at odds with a dark uninviting City in which he lives and his work which he does in the Tower. The Tower is my synonym for all that he believes controls society and politics. Throughout, he falls back to compare his life to the life he remembers as a child. Most of them are memories of childhood adventures full of warmth and longing but he also remembers difficult times with his father. As he ages he begins to dream of a return to the past but eventually accepts that there is no going back. There is no escape for him as he has become far too deeply meshed into the City and the Tower. It is a story of unresolved struggle and internal conflict and a journey that poses questions, each one throwing up far too many answers to do anything other than to confuse. There is a great deal of anger at historical injustices perpetrated around the world, all of which has been sanitized by modern historical writing. His life ends in failure but that is what he always expected. It is also an intense love story and his love for a woman with whom he had an affair for only 24 weeks. Its failure haunts him throughout his life and he becomes quite unable ever to love again. His frustration leads him into several unrewarding sexual encounters, real and imagined, some with graphic scenes and some that mean nothing at all. Behind all this is a character I have named the Custodian. He is a mentor and his conscience, often by his side, critical and unforgiving but I never make it clear if he is a real person. In essence it is an analysis of internal conflict of a man who ultimately realizes he has failed at everything, having struggled throughout to stop himself from tearing apart. It is unusual in literary style combing a touch of poetry within prose. It is haunting in the sense that it a mix of past and present, always simmering in a cauldron of confusion.

Under the Alien Sky is an oriental tale and it bristles with anecdotes of odd people and weird incidents, in a world of unbelievable eccentricity, from a European perspective. Of course, the expatriates are the aliens, but somehow they see themselves as bearers of British (and to a lesser extent Irish) civility to people of lesser culture in foreign lands. The writer’s style of writing will make the reader smile, laugh, possibly cry or roll their eyes up in disbelief. The people, locations and events are purely fictional, but the story is told as if it were an authentic journal. Even though the story is fictional, it reflects some aspects of life in any one of a dozen countries in Southeast Asia. Sometime fiction can be truer than fact and the writer’s motto is never to let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Her life changes for the better, when she decides to make a positive change in her life, Jacqueline had become so engrossed in her problems, that she could not see the forest from the trees. A new life, discovering new things, places, relationships, happiness, and the three Gs, God Given Gifts, which she would learn to take control of, and embrace the good in herself, using it in a positive way. Life’s ups and downs and big changes were still waiting to happen. To add to her problems Toni has to have a serious operation not connected with her spinal injury but something almost as critical. Mr. Xavier is the surgeon, Susannah his wife. Susannah befriends Toni and she reluctantly (reluctantly because she wasn’t used to family life and how to deal with it) becomes one of the family. Susannah is not the wonderful hostess she purports to be and causes an enormous amount of trauma. Over this time Toni is sexually abused by Susannah, and also suffers a severe a beating at the hands of Theo. She is humiliated by both. The tale takes a twist, when, after some years during which Toni and the surgeon lose contact he appears on the scene causing an inconceivable and volatile change in her life. Another consultant that Toni works with on research offers her support during this turmoil. Toni is very grateful to him and it’s apparent that he is besotted with her, although the feeling isn’t reciprocated. Toni, despite not having any maternal feelings becomes a mother to twin boys. During this time, due to her strong nature pulls through to continue her further academic studies and is awarded her doctorate. A life changing event occurs due to Theo’s reappearance and Toni life becomes chaotic and tumultuous, but worse if yet to come…

Description content for this Copyright: Tears from Heaven is a true life story (names of persons and places have been changed though) that is set in a typical African village in the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The events span through a period of about twenty years. This book portrays the hydra-headed effects of ignorance in rural African society. Several unscientific practices such as belief in witchcraft being the cause of all evils, communing with the dead, and attributing misfortunes in one’s life to an enemy are evident. These are taken to such extremes that families have been torn apart, marriages broken, and people’s lives threatened. Churches are not left out too. Preachers capitalise on this ignorance and the tendency to attribute things to the supernatural to defraud their unsuspecting members. They deceive their members by claiming to hear from God, while they actually do not, pretending to have solution to all problems and performing rituals in the name of casting out evil spirits, among other things. Tears from Heaven portrays God literally crying in heaven as a result of preachers abusing his name for selfish interests. He (God) also cries seeing the pain people go through and the injustice they suffer from self-inflicted or society-inflicted harm based on false cultural beliefs. Contrary to popular belief, these inhuman practices are still held on to in many places, and reading through this book will expose this can of worms that many thought was hitherto closed or even dead. As the traditional ruler of my community, I am best positioned to tell the story because I have first-hand experience, having spent a greater part of my life with the people. It will make an interesting reading for those interested in African philosophy and culture. More so, it is set in the troubled oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It also points to the fact that there are some things that science has not changed and may unfortunately not be able to change. Tears from Heaven
